Your non-chemical neighborhood
farm since 1984

The man knew of what he spoke,
When E.B. White once wrote:
"A farm is always in some kind of tizzy."
Well, Pheasant Hill Farm is super busy.
But the same old corn and beans?
By no means!
From arugula to Zucchini, we grow it all,
Spring, summer and fall.
"Cackleberries" or blueberries for a treat?
Try "Conehead" cabbage and corn so sweet
You'll want to jump and stamp your feet.
Potatoes red, white and blue?
Yes, it's true.
We got it!
They're downright patriotic.
All to be found at the Emmaus Farmers'
Market.
Flowers galore grow right up
to the door.
We don't eat the daisies, just pick them like crazies
And hollyhocks, snapdragons and zinnias, too.
There is always room for more than a few.
Throughout the season
Melanie's garden bouquets are pleasin'
For any old reason.
Tilling the soil
Is only part of our toil.
When we farmers aren't farming,
We're writing -- about farming.
Magazine articles
here,
Newsletter pieces there.
And always equipment to repair.
Never a reason to despair.
There are two new books in our
"Bookstore."
Farmer George is writing yet one
more.
Tractors old and serene
Are orange, gray and green,
Darndest things you've ever seen.
No matter the season, the labor
is pleasin'.
And for more than just one reason.
There is always plenty of work to go 'round.
While the outside world is snowbound,
Farmers wear T-shirts in a greenhouse playground.
Nothing's a bore, so nothing's a chore.
Sounds rather frantic,
But don't panic.
It's all certified -- organic!
Inspired by E.B. White's "Malabar
Farm," originally in The New Yorker, 1948.
